The best way to predict the future is to invent it
A Holiday Message from our CEO
What could possibly happen next?
Just when it seemed as if life couldn’t change any faster, 2020 came along to turn life completely upside down—again and again and again.
With all that has transpired, it’s only natural to feel a bit unsettled, maybe even shell-shocked! After all, for many of us, the future has never before been so unclear.
But here’s the thing, you can’t predict the world’s future, so why not devote your energies to inventing your own! Let’s focus on what we can control. Paint a picture in your mind and in your heart of the future you want for yourself and then ask, “How can I get there?”
When you decide to invent your future, you are refusing to let life wash over you and resolving to make life happen for you.
This philosophy has served me well over the years. It’s even a core philosophy of Fidelity Bank. Well over a century ago, a group of people got together to start a local bank with a single purpose—to invent a better future for themselves and for their community.
Today, much of our work involves helping clients gain influence over their future by giving them clarity and confidence—clarity about their options so they can make financial decisions with confidence. And our work extends to the communities we serve to provide assistance that allows others to take their lives by the hand, possibly for the first time, and lead the way toward a meaningful future.
This holiday season, I encourage you to give yourself the gift of clarity and confidence. Envision the life you want and move toward it with purpose. In doing so, you’ll be inventing your future—a future with you at the wheel.
